New Delhi, October 16, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke has defended the party’s protests as a constitutional right, accusing the government of curbing citizens’ freedoms through citywide shutdowns, internet suspensions and restrictions on movement.

In a strongly worded post on X on Friday, Dipke argued that peaceful demonstrations, demands for accountability and questioning elected representatives were fundamental expressions of democracy, not acts of anarchy.

He alleged that business activities were disrupted not by peaceful protests but by government-imposed restrictions that could bring an entire city to a standstill.

“Businesses do not suffer because of peaceful protests. They suffer when the govt decides to shut down an entire city, suspend Internet services, restrict the movement of its own citizens and turn the city into a war-zone,” he wrote.

Reaffirming the CJP’s commitment to Mahatma Gandhi’s principles of peace and non-violence, Dipke said the party had organised peaceful demonstrations in Mumbai, Pune, Jaipur, Lucknow, Bengaluru and Nagpur.

He also claimed that he had been physically assaulted during a protest in Jaipur but chose not to retaliate, saying that responding to violence with violence would contradict the party’s principles.

Dipke said the party preferred to exercise its constitutional rights rather than resort to physical force, invoking the constitutional values associated with Dr B.R. Ambedkar.

Rejecting the portrayal of CJP members as anarchists, he maintained that raising questions about government decisions and protesting against injustice were legitimate democratic activities.

“A govt that has been elected by the people is bound to listen to the people, not silence them. Democracy does not end once the votes have been counted,” he said.

Dipke urged citizens to hold elected representatives accountable and speak out against injustice, arguing that democratic participation must continue beyond election day.
