The BJP is preparing a nationwide outreach campaign for next week to counter Congress allegations concerning the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and the functioning of the Election Commission of India (ECI), with party leaders set to take their arguments directly to voters.
The campaign is expected to involve MPs, MLAs and other party functionaries, who will be tasked with explaining the BJP’s position in their respective constituencies through public interactions and other outreach activities.
As part of the preparations, the BJP is compiling a 24-page document addressing questions and allegations raised by the Congress and other opposition parties over the electoral roll revision exercise and the Election Commission. The document is expected to serve as a reference guide for party leaders and workers during the campaign.
The party also plans to use social media and other digital communication platforms to broaden the campaign’s reach and present its responses to the opposition’s criticism.
Beyond defending the SIR exercise and the Election Commission against the latest allegations, the BJP intends to highlight what it describes as instances of the misuse of constitutional institutions during previous Congress-led governments.
Party leaders are expected to cite these examples to challenge the Congress’s criticism and present the BJP’s perspective on the functioning of constitutional bodies under successive administrations.
The proposed campaign comes amid an ongoing political dispute over the SIR process and the role of the Election Commission in maintaining electoral rolls. The Congress has raised concerns about the exercise, while the BJP intends to counter those claims through its planned public outreach.
The initiative is expected to combine constituency-level engagement with a coordinated digital campaign, involving party representatives at different organisational levels.
The BJP’s stated objective is to communicate its arguments directly to the public and respond to questions surrounding the electoral revision process and the poll body. The specific schedule and details of the nationwide campaign were not provided in the announcement.
