New Delhi, October 15, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Delhi Lieutenant Governor T.S. Sandhu met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Thursday and shared details of development issues related to the national capital.

The Prime Minister’s Office confirmed the meeting in a post on X, stating that the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi had met the Prime Minister.

The meeting comes as the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) advances plans to strengthen the capital’s education and healthcare infrastructure under the Master Plan for Delhi-2047 (MPD-2047), in line with Sandhu’s emphasis on making Delhi a leading hub for both sectors.

On Tuesday, the DDA held its ninth and tenth stakeholder consultations, focusing on the proposed development of an Education Hub and a Medical Hub. According to the authority, the consultations aimed to familiarise stakeholders with key provisions of the master plan and facilitate discussions on the planned projects.

The ninth consultation focused on the proposed Education Hub and brought together representatives of the Delhi government’s Education Department, schools, private universities, other universities and educational institutions.

During the meeting, the DDA outlined provisions intended to position Delhi as a centre for knowledge and innovation. The MPD-2047 envisages developing a 138-hectare Education Hub in Narela to accommodate universities, research institutions, vocational training facilities and start-ups. The proposed hub is intended to support a knowledge-based economy and create skilled employment opportunities.

The plan also provides for enhanced Floor Area Ratio (FAR) for schools to facilitate additional extracurricular infrastructure in line with the National Education Policy. It permits standalone schools and training facilities for children with disabilities and special needs in accordance with the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act. The development of residential schools is also allowed under the plan.

The tenth consultation focused on the proposed Medical Hub, with participation from healthcare institutions and representatives of the Health Departments of the Government of India and the Delhi government.

The DDA said the MPD-2047 seeks to strengthen Delhi’s healthcare ecosystem through an integrated network of hospitals, medical colleges, speciality healthcare facilities and wellness centres across the capital.

The plan also aims to reinforce Delhi’s position as a national healthcare hub and a destination for medical tourism by facilitating the development of world-class tertiary and super-speciality healthcare facilities.

The consultations form part of the DDA’s broader planning exercise under MPD-2047, with education and healthcare identified as key areas for infrastructure development in the national capital.
