All India Muslim Jamaat National President Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi Barelvi has extended his support to the BJP’s month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’, describing the initiative as a positive step focused on public welfare.
Speaking to IANS, Maulana Shahabuddin said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched the ‘Seva Sankalp Yatra’ with directions for people and government officials to reach out to citizens in cities and villages, explain government schemes and facilitate access to their benefits.
“This is a good step and should be appreciated, because government schemes, whether of the state government or the central government, are for the welfare and well-being of the people,” he said, adding that it was the government’s responsibility to work in the interests of the public.
“I support the Seva Sankalp Yatra,” he said.
The BJP will launch the month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ on September 17, Modi’s birthday, and conclude it on October 17. The campaign is being organised to mark the Prime Minister’s completion of 25 years in public life and will feature service-oriented initiatives and public outreach programmes across the country.
BJP President Nitin Nabin announced the campaign in New Delhi on September 9, saying Modi would complete 25 years in public service on October 7. The date marks the anniversary of Modi taking oath as Gujarat Chief Minister on October 7, 2001.
Nabin said Modi’s political journey over the past 25 years had been guided by the principle of moving from public service to national service, and that the BJP would use the campaign to take the message of service and dedication to people across the country.
The campaign will begin on September 17, observed by the BJP as ‘Seva Diwas’, with blood donation camps planned across the country. At 7 p.m. the same day, the party will organise ‘Aashirwad Ka Diya’, under which lamps will be lit at party booths as a mark of gratitude for Modi’s 25 years of public service.
From September 17 to October 7, schools will organise drawing and speech competitions on ‘Mere Sapno Ka Bharat’. Music and theatre performances will also be held under the ‘Namo Seva–Ankahi Kahaniyan’ initiative.
Between September 25 and October 7, the BJP will organise ‘Aangan Milan Seva’ to honour Anganwadi and ASHA workers. A cleanliness drive will be held on October 2, while October 7 will feature the ‘Seva Jyoti Kalash Yatra’, during which participants will pledge themselves to the goal of a developed India.
The BJP plans 25 different service activities during the month-long campaign. Under the ‘Seva Setu Abhiyan’, block-level camps will be organised to help people access benefits under various government schemes.
The campaign will conclude on October 17 with a ‘Sushasan Seva Samvad’ focusing on good governance and public service.
