The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) has claimed that more than a dozen Pakistani military personnel and a police officer were killed in 11 attacks across Balochistan between August 15 and September 9.
The claims were made in a statement issued by BLF spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch on Thursday. The group said its fighters carried out attacks in several parts of the province, including Chagai, Surab, Awaran, Khuzdar, Rakhshan, Kech, Quetta and Barkhan.
According to the statement, BLF fighters took control of the Talaran police station in the Baramcha area of Chagai on September 9 after detaining police personnel and seizing weapons, equipment and a vehicle. The group claimed the detained personnel were later released unharmed following a warning.
The BLF also claimed that its fighters ambushed a Pakistani military convoy near a grid station in the Gidar area of Surab on the same day, causing casualties and material losses.
The group said six military personnel were killed in another ambush on a military convoy at Mughali Cross in Khuzdar on September 4. It claimed one vehicle was directly hit, while rockets and automatic weapons were used against other vehicles.
The BLF further claimed that an improvised explosive device attack in Awaran on September 7 killed two military personnel and injured two others. It also claimed responsibility for attacks on communications infrastructure, including a fibre-optic facility in Chagai and a Ufone communications tower in Rakhshan.
In another incident, the group claimed two military personnel were killed and two injured when its fighters attacked a military foot patrol in the Kolwah region of Awaran on September 1.
The BLF also claimed that a police officer was killed and several others injured in Quetta on August 28 when police attempted to intercept its fighters. It additionally claimed that three men accused of collaborating with Pakistani forces were killed.
The claims could not be independently verified.
The latest incidents come amid continued attacks by Baloch armed groups targeting Pakistani security forces and infrastructure across Balochistan.
Earlier this week, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for 28 operations across Balochistan between September 1 and 7, claiming that 52 Pakistani security personnel were killed and several others injured. These claims too could not be independently verified.
