Punjab Police conducted 584 raids across the state on Saturday as the “Gangstran Te Vaar” campaign entered its 228th day, targeting identified and mapped locations linked to associates of gangsters.
The campaign, launched by Punjab Police Director General Gaurav Yadav on January 20, 2026, aims to make Punjab free of gangster activity. Police teams from all districts have been carrying out coordinated operations with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab.
During the latest operation, police arrested 250 individuals, taking the total number of arrests under the campaign to 68,115. Preventive action was also taken against 232 individuals, while nine Proclaimed Offenders (POs) were arrested.
Punjab Police urged people to share information about wanted criminals, gangsters and other criminal activities through the Anti-Gangster Helpline at 93946-93946. The information can be provided anonymously.
Meanwhile, the police continued their anti-drug campaign, “Yudh Nashian Virudh”, which entered its 553rd day.
Police arrested 76 alleged drug smugglers during the latest operation and recovered 967 grams of heroin, 300 grams of opium, 7,361 intoxicant pills and Rs 2,650 in drug money.
With the latest arrests, the total number of drug smugglers arrested under the campaign has reached 77,183 in 553 days.
As part of its de-addiction efforts, Punjab Police also persuaded 16 individuals to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment on Saturday.
