Director R Madhesh’s long-awaited Tamil film ‘Sandakkari’, starring Vemal and Shriya Saran in the lead roles, could finally reach theatres this September, with the makers reportedly exploring all possible options to release the film during the month.
The film is based on a story by filmmaker Jeethu Joseph, best known for directing ‘Drishyam’. It has been directed by R Madhesh and produced by Punnagai Poo Gheetha.
‘Sandakkari’ is described as a family entertainer set against the backdrop of a leading software company in London. Shriya Saran plays a senior executive, while Vemal portrays an employee working under her. Their contrasting personalities trigger a series of clashes involving romance, ego and humour, with unexpected twists driving the narrative.
Actor Sathyan is expected to add another layer of comedy to the story as his character finds himself caught between Vemal and Shriya during their frequent confrontations.
The cast also includes Prabhu, K. R. Vijaya, Punnagai Poo Gheetha, Rekha, Dev Gill, Uma Padmanabhan, Mahanadi Shankar and Crane Manohar in prominent roles.
The technical crew includes music director Amrish, cinematographer Gurudev, editor Dinesh Ponraj and art director Ayyappan. Action choreography has been handled by Kanal Kannan, while Habeeb has choreographed the dance sequences.
According to industry sources, the film combines romance, comedy, family emotions and interpersonal conflicts, with the makers aiming to deliver a lively entertainer for family audiences.
The film’s release plans remain under consideration, with the makers said to be working towards a September release.
