Ayodhya, September 5, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Swami Govind Dev Giriji Maharaj, who has been elevated as the General Secretary of the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, on Saturday expressed gratitude to Lord Ram for giving him an opportunity to serve and said he was prepared to shoulder the responsibility with divine guidance.

Speaking to reporters, the seer said the Trust had introduced several changes in the ritual practices at the Ram Temple and was also moving ahead with plans to expand the ‘Mata Sita Rasoi Annakshetra’.

He said the Trust’s newly appointed CEO, Air Marshal (Retd.) Jeetendra Mishra, assumed charge on Friday. After making arrangements at his residence, Mishra is expected to reach Ayodhya in four to five days and begin working from next week, he said.

The next meeting of the Temple Trust has been scheduled for December 2.

Referring to the Trust’s recent meeting, Swami Govind Dev Giri said it was highly successful by the grace of Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram. Mahesh Bhagchandka of Delhi, advocate Madan Mohan Pandey of Ayodhya and Nirmala Yadav of Shikohabad in Firozabad district were inducted into the Trust.

Bhagchandka has been appointed Treasurer of the Trust.

On his appointment as General Secretary, Swami Govind Dev Giri said, “Through this post, Lord Ram has given me this opportunity to serve. It is a huge responsibility and I believe that the Lord himself will provide me the strength to carry out the same.”

He added that he remained ready to serve the deity in any manner possible, “even if it is in the form of a ‘squirrel’.”

The seer expressed confidence that with the support of saints and the people of Ayodhya, along with the blessings of Lord Ram and Goddess Janki, the Trust would function smoothly.

Recalling the Janmashtami celebrations at the Ram Temple a day earlier, he said that for the first time, the deity’s idol was placed on a swing during the celebrations. He also said devotees had appreciated changes introduced in the temple’s aarti ritual.

Under the revised arrangements, Hindu priests of the temple will continue performing aarti inside the garbhagriha, while other priests will conduct the ritual outside it, he said.

Swami Govind Dev Giri further said the Trust would accelerate its remaining work. The ‘Panch Devata Yajna’ will now be conducted daily at the temple, while continuous chanting of “Shree Ram, Jai Ram, Jai Jai Ram” will take place throughout the day.

He also said the Trust had decided to expand the ‘Maa Sita Anna Kshetra’ to serve devotees.
