Singer Neha Kakkar shared a heartfelt Raksha Bandhan message for her elder sister Sonu Kakkar on Wednesday, posting a series of pictures celebrating their bond ahead of the festival on August 28.
Neha took to Instagram to share several photographs of the Kakkar sisters. The final picture also featured their brother Tony Kakkar, bringing all three siblings together in the album.
Expressing her affection for Sonu, Neha wrote, “I know Raksha Bandhan is around the corner, but this one is especially for my sister @sonukakkarofficial Love you didi! ❤️ (sic).”
The photographs showed Neha and Sonu wearing matching Rakhis on their wrists.
The siblings have frequently supported each other professionally and personally, although their relationship has also seen difficult moments. In April last year, Sonu had publicly announced that she was no longer a sister to Neha and Tony in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Deeply devastated to inform you all that I am no longer a SISTER to the two talented Superstars, Tony Kakkar and Neha Kakkar. This decision of mine comes from a place of deep emotional pain, and I am truly disheartened today,” she had written.
Sonu later deleted the post. Neha’s latest Raksha Bandhan tribute suggests that the siblings have since moved past the episode.
The three Kakkar siblings have also maintained a strong professional association over the years. Sonu has sung several songs composed by Tony, including Akhiyan Nu Rehn De, Urban Munda, Phir Teri Bahon Mein, Ooh La La, Funky Mohabbat and Booty Shake. Neha has also joined Sonu on some of these tracks.
Neha, Sonu and Tony have additionally performed together on MTV Unplugged, where they sang their track Story Of Kakkars live.
