A man allegedly killed his wife and 15-year-old daughter and injured his other teenage daughter during an attack at their home in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad district, police said on Saturday.
The incident occurred late Friday night in Gali No. 3 of Lokpriya Vihar in Khoda Colony. Police received information about the incident around 12.15 a.m. and immediately reached the spot.
The accused, identified as Raja Ansari, originally from Araria in Bihar, lived with his wife, Bibi Tabassum, and their two daughters, Sana Tabassum and Ruby Tabassum, on the fourth floor of a house in the locality.
According to preliminary information, Ansari attacked his wife and 15-year-old daughter Sana, resulting in their deaths. His other daughter, 14-year-old Ruby, also sustained injuries in the attack.
Police rushed Ruby to MG Hospital, where she is undergoing treatment. Officials said her condition is currently out of danger.
The bodies of the deceased have been taken into custody and will be sent for post-mortem examination.
Police detained Ansari following the incident and are questioning him to determine the circumstances and motive behind the killings. Preliminary inquiries suggest that a domestic dispute may have preceded the attack, though officials said the exact cause will be established only after a detailed investigation and interrogation.
Police teams are examining the crime scene, collecting evidence and questioning residents and other people who may have information about the incident.
Indirapuram Assistant Commissioner of Police Suryabali Maurya said police received information about the murders around 12.15 a.m. and reached the location immediately.
“Investigation revealed that Raja Ansari had murdered his wife, Bibi Tabassum, and daughter, Sana Tabassum, and that his other daughter, Ruby Tabassum, was injured,” Maurya said.
The accused remains in police custody and further legal proceedings are underway.
