VP C.P. Radhakrishnan Urges Young IAS Officers to Uphold Integrity, Embrace Technology

Dehradun, August 20, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan on Thursday urged young IAS officers to uphold character and integrity in public service, saying true leadership is reflected not in the exercise of power but in the ability to take ethical decisions during difficult situations.

Addressing the valedictory programme of the Phase-II training of IAS Officer Trainees of the 2024 batch at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) in Mussoorie, Radhakrishnan asked the officers to make their careers meaningful by bringing tangible improvements to people’s lives.

Referring to the country’s journey towards Viksit Bharat @ 2047, the Vice-President said officers must ensure that development reaches the last mile, grievances are heard and every citizen is empowered.

He also called on the young administrators to adopt emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning and Blockchain, to enhance efficiency, transparency and the delivery of citizen-centric services.

Radhakrishnan emphasised the need for continuous learning, adaptability and preparedness for the future. He encouraged the officers to pursue team excellence rather than individual or group excellence, while building cohesive teams and motivating colleagues.

He also urged them to carry forward effective practices established by their predecessors.

Congratulating the Officer Trainees on completing their training, the Vice-President said the civil services have made significant contributions to India’s development and continue to serve as a crucial link between policymaking and its implementation at the grassroots level.

During his visit to the Academy, Radhakrishnan paid floral tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri.

Uttarakhand Governor Lieutenant General (Retd.) Gurmit Singh, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Soldier Welfare Minister Ganesh Joshi, and LBSNAA Director B. Rajender attended the programme.

The event marked the concluding day of Radhakrishnan’s two-day visit to Uttarakhand. On Wednesday, the first day of his visit, he went to the Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy (IGNFA) in Dehradun, where he interacted with Indian Forest Service probationers of the 2025-27 batch.
