Bigg Boss Voice Vijay Vikram Singh Recalls Iconic ‘Damini’ Reference During First Meeting with Sunny Deol on ‘Ikka’ Sets

Mumbai, August 20, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Actor and voice artist Vijay Vikram Singh has recalled an amusing first meeting with Sunny Deol on the sets of Ikka, revealing that his excitement led him to make an unexpected reference to the actor’s iconic character from the 1993 courtroom drama Damini.

Speaking to IANS about working alongside Sunny Deol and Akshaye Khanna, Vijay described the experience as one filled with excitement. Recalling his first interaction with Sunny, he said he was so thrilled that he spoke without realising what he was saying.

“When I met Sunny sir for the first time, I did not even realise what I was saying. I told him, ‘Sunny sir, you are asking for a date from Damini, and finally I will give you a date in this movie,’” Vijay recalled.

He was referring to Sunny Deol’s memorable role as lawyer Govind in Damini, a film remembered for his powerful courtroom performance and the iconic “Tareekh Pe Tareekh” dialogue.

Vijay said he realised only later what he had said, but Sunny responded warmly.

“Later, I realised that I was so excited that I did not know what I was saying. But he is such a sweet person that he laughed a lot. In fact, he made a video with me on the same topic when we met at the success party,” he said.

Vijay added that he later requested Sunny to recreate the moment, and the veteran actor readily agreed.

“I requested Sunny sir to make the same video again, and he immediately said, ‘Yes, let’s make it,’” he said.

Discussing his experience of sharing screen space with Sunny and Akshaye, Vijay said actors need to adapt to their co-stars because performance depends on action and reaction.

“As an actor, you react. It is all about action and reaction. You have to adapt according to the other person’s style,” he said.

Vijay also credited Ikka director Siddharth P. Malhotra for helping him understand and portray his character effectively.

“My director, Siddharth, had a very beautiful vision. I understood that vision very easily and got into it. That is why people remembered the character,” he said.

Drawing a parallel with his association with Bigg Boss, Vijay said the film played a similar role in establishing him as an actor.

“I say that Ikka did for my acting career what Bigg Boss did for my voice career. It made me known as an actor, while the show made me known as a voice,” he said.

Vijay, who is widely recognised for his distinctive voice on Bigg Boss, has also appeared in several films and web series. He noted that audiences continue to associate him with memorable characters, including Chintamani Sharma from Special Ops.

With Ikka, he said, viewers have also begun remembering him for his performance in the film.
