American actress Hayden Panettiere, best known for her roles in the television series Heroes and Nashville, has died at the age of 36. The Cine & TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA) expressed condolences to her family, friends, colleagues and admirers following the news.
CINTAA shared a tribute on its official Instagram account, saying, “CINTAA mourns the passing of Hayden Panettiere. Our heartfelt condolences go out to her family, friends, colleagues and admirers during this difficult time. May her soul rest in peace.”
Panettiere’s family confirmed her death through an official statement. Her father, Alan “Skip” Panettiere, described her as “an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her — and to the millions who watched her onscreen.”
The family has requested privacy as it mourns her death. The exact cause of death has not been disclosed, and an investigation is underway.
Panettiere began her career as a child performer, appearing in commercials and soap operas before gaining wider recognition in 1998 for voicing Dot, the young princess ant, in Pixar’s animated film A Bug’s Life.
She rose to international prominence in 2006 with her portrayal of Claire Bennet, a high school cheerleader with superpowers, in NBC’s science-fiction series Heroes.
Panettiere subsequently became widely known for playing Juliette Barnes, an ambitious young country music singer, in ABC’s musical drama Nashville. Her work on the series also extended to music, with 11 of her songs from the show appearing on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart during its run.
Her final screen appearance was in the psychological thriller Sleepwalker.
