Bollywood actor Tusshar Kapoor has allegedly received an extortion threat demanding ₹5 crore from a caller claiming to be Harry Boxer, a purported member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
The actor, son of veteran Bollywood star Jeetendra, reportedly alerted Mumbai Police after receiving the threatening call. However, a preliminary investigation has suggested that the threat may have been fake.
The Mumbai Police Crime Branch’s technical team examined the audio recording of the call and compared the caller’s voice with official audio samples of Harry Boxer available in its database.
According to senior police officials, the voices did not match, prompting investigators to suspect that someone may have impersonated the gang member to intimidate the actor.
Police are now attempting to trace the person behind the threatening call and establish the circumstances in which the recording was sent.
Several Bollywood personalities, including Salman Khan, Rohit Shetty, Ranveer Singh and Tiger Shroff, have reportedly faced threats or attacks allegedly linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
On the professional front, Tusshar Kapoor was last seen in Ahmed Khan’s ensemble comedy Welcome to the Jungle, which features Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Jackie Shroff, Paresh Rawal, Arshad Warsi, Raveena Tandon, Jacqueline Fernandez and several other actors.
He will next be seen in Rohit Shetty’s Golmaal 5, the fifth instalment of the popular comedy franchise that began with the release of Golmaal: Fun Unlimited in 2006. The upcoming film also features Akshay Kumar.
