New Delhi, November 2, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Former Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Monday visited RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav at the Delhi residence of his daughter, Misa Bharti, and enquired about his health as he continues to receive medical attention at AIIMS.

Lalu Prasad had recently been brought to Delhi for specialised medical consultation after treatment and observation at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) in Patna. His condition is stated to be stable, according to family members.

Sharing photographs of the meeting on X, the RJD chief recalled his longstanding political association with Sonia Gandhi during the UPA government. He also highlighted welfare initiatives introduced during that period, including the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), the Right to Education Act and the Right to Information Act.

He further recalled that the government led by then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had allocated more than Rs 1.45 lakh crore for Bihar’s development.

Bihar Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav said Sonia Gandhi had expressed a desire to meet Lalu Prasad after learning that he was in Delhi for a routine medical check-up.

Tejashwi described the meeting as an opportunity for the two leaders, who share a longstanding political and personal relationship, to reconnect and discuss Lalu Prasad’s health.

Separately, reacting to the INDIA bloc’s rally at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi, Tejashwi stressed that Opposition parties would have to remain united to take on the BJP.

He said the rally was not the final step in the campaign and asserted that the Opposition would continue its efforts until action was taken against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

“We will not win this battle unless we stand united. We did gather yesterday, but that was not the final event,” he said.

Responding to BJP leaders describing the rally as a failure, Tejashwi questioned their reaction and alleged that the ruling party was unsettled because, in his words, “their theft has been exposed”.
