New Delhi, November 3, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)
Actress Nora Fatehi is neither an accused nor facing allegations of wrongdoing in the extortion case involving alleged conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar and has been summoned by the court only as a witness, her legal team has clarified.
The clarification came after the November 2 hearing of the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) case at Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court, where Fatehi was directed to appear as a witness to assist in the proceedings.
According to her lawyers, the actress could not attend the hearing because she received the summons at short notice and had prior professional commitments. Her legal representatives appeared before the court and submitted an application seeking exemption from her personal appearance.
Following the application, the court adjourned the matter until November 6, 2026, and issued fresh summons directing her to appear on the next date.
In a statement, her legal team said Fatehi had been summoned solely in the capacity of a witness and was not an accused in the proceedings.
The case relates to an alleged extortion racket worth nearly ₹200 crore, which Chandrashekhar is accused of orchestrating while lodged in Delhi’s Rohini Jail. He allegedly impersonated senior government officials to defraud victims.
The Delhi Police EOW investigated the case and subsequently filed a chargesheet under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).
Fatehi had previously been questioned by the EOW over her alleged links with Chandrashekhar and his wife, Leena Maria Paulose. Her statement was also recorded before a magistrate under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).
She was subsequently named as a prosecution witness in the supplementary chargesheet, reinforcing her legal team’s clarification that her role in the proceedings is that of a witness.
