New Delhi, November 2, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Left-arm spinner Harsh Dubey scripted history on Monday, claiming 9-53 to bowl Madhya Pradesh out for 209 on the opening day of their Ranji Trophy match against Vidarbha at the VCA Stadium in Jamtha.

Dubey became the first Vidarbha bowler to take nine wickets in a Ranji Trophy innings, surpassing the previous best of 8-39 by Arun Ogiral against Madhya Pradesh in 1967-68. He is the 30th bowler overall to achieve the feat. The last nine-wicket haul in the tournament came from Gujarat’s Siddharth Desai, who took 9-36 against Uttarakhand in 2024-25.

After Nachiket Bhute dismissed opener Yash Dubey, Harsh took charge, reducing Madhya Pradesh to 64/5. Atharva Mahajan and Saransh Jain then added 72 runs for the sixth wicket before Dubey broke the partnership and wrapped up the lower order.

The performance adds to a productive year for Dubey, who made his ODI debut against Afghanistan in June and also represented India A in Sri Lanka and Central Zone in the Duleep Trophy. He has taken 23 wickets in seven innings in the 2026-27 Ranji Trophy season.
