Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora inaugurates Saras Mela-2025 at Ludhiana

The Saras Mela-2025, showcasing India’s ancient culture, craftsmanship, and diverse cuisines, was formally inaugurated on Saturday by Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora. He was also accompanied by PAU VC Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, State Information Commissioner Harpreet Sandhu, DC Himanshu Jain, besides several others.

The mela will be held at the Punjab Agricultural University Mela Ground from October 4 to October 13.

While inaugurating the Saras Mela, Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora extended congratulations to Ludhianavis and all participants, stating that under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain, the district administration has made significant efforts. The mela features food stalls from 22 different states.

Arora noted that the event reflects India’s rich cultural heritage, with artists from various states showcasing their talents. He urged youth, children, and people of all age groups to participate in large numbers and enjoy the mela.

He highlighted that over 1,000 artisans from across India will display their rare craftsmanship, traditional artworks, and handcrafted treasures. The event will also feature spectacular performances by renowned Punjabi artists, with evenings filled with music, dance, and entertainment.

Star Nights
The mela kicks off with a vibrant performance by world-renowned singer Gurdas Maan on October 4. On October 5, Kulwinder Billa will perform, followed by the dynamic duo Basant Kaur and Pari Pandher on October 6. Kanwar Grewal and Manraj Patar will captivate audiences on October 7, while October 8 will feature a group performance by Gurnam Bhullar, Sweety Brar, Prabh Bains, Asmeet Sehra, and Kala Grewal.

The excitement continues with Dilpreet Dhillon and Vicky Dhillon on October 9, Satinder Sartaaj on October 10, and Ranjit Bawa on October 11. Josh Brar, joined by Geetaz Bindrakhia, will energize the crowd on October 12, and Gippy Grewal will close the mela with chart-topping hits on October 13. Each evening, these artists will deliver unforgettable performances blending Punjabi folk, contemporary, and Sufi tunes.

Competitions and Workshops:
From 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM daily, Sarus Mela 2025 will host engaging workshops and competitions celebrating creativity and tradition. On Saturday, the Bhangra and Giddha workshop was held in Punjabi folk dance. A painting competition for emerging artists will be held on October 5. A turban-tying workshop on October 6 will teach traditional techniques, while a live pottery workshop on October 7 will explore clay art.

Creativity continues with a bottle painting competition on October 8, a mehndi competition on October 9, and a rangoli competition on October 10.

An origami workshop on October 11 will offer a unique craft experience, followed by a face painting competition on October 12. The festival concludes with a photography competition on October 13, capturing the mela’s vibrant spirit.

Free Entry for Media Personnel:
Media personnel will have free entry to the mela grounds (except the concert zone) upon presenting their ID cards.

Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain announced that all proceeds from Saras Mela 2025 will be used for the welfare of flood-affected people. He stated that the event combines the celebration of Punjab’s rich cultural heritage with a meaningful opportunity to contribute to a noble cause.

Jain warmly invited residents to join in large numbers, enjoy spectacular performances, explore unique crafts, savor delicious cuisines, and support flood relief efforts.
