Actor Emraan Hashmi believes music has always played a significant role in shaping the audience’s emotional connection with his films. The actor is now bringing that musical sensibility to Rooh, an upcoming horror-romance film scheduled for a theatrical release in 2027.
Speaking about the film’s musical direction, Emraan said his collaboration with producer Kumar Taurani felt “serendipitous” and stressed that the soundtrack would be closely tied to the film’s emotional core.
“Music has always been an integral part of how audiences connect with my films. With Rooh, we want music that captures the soul of the film, which is deeply romantic, haunting and rooted in emotion,” he said.
Taurani, whose production house Tips Films is backing the project alongside Vicked Films Productions, recalled his association with Emraan dating back to the actor’s debut film, Footpath. He said the collaboration on Rooh offered an opportunity to recreate the success of their earlier association.
Directed by Mayank Sharma and written by Sharma and Vishal Kapoor, Rooh combines horror and romance, with music positioned as a central element of its narrative.
Producer Vikram Khakhar described the project as a significant collaboration and said the team was looking forward to delivering an immersive theatrical horror experience in 2027.
Producer Sunny Khanna also welcomed the association with Kumar Taurani and Girissh Kumar, highlighting their experience in the film and music industries. He said the partnership would help take the film to audiences across Hindi, Tamil and Telugu markets.
Presented by Tips Films, Rooh is produced by Kumar Taurani, Girissh Kumar, Vikram Khakhar and Sunny Khanna, with Vikas Sahni as co-producer. Its music will be released under the Tips Music label.
The film is slated to release in theatres in 2027 in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
