Television actor Akshay Mhatre, who currently plays Girdhar in Anmol TV’s Humari Radha, says the significance of Dhanteras goes beyond purchasing gold and silver, as the festival also symbolises welcoming positivity, prosperity and abundance into life.
Sharing his thoughts on the occasion, Akshay described Dhanteras as the auspicious beginning of Diwali and highlighted the faith and sentiment associated with the tradition of bringing something valuable home.
“Traditionally, people celebrate this day by bringing home something valuable, be it gold, silver or anything that holds significance for them, and offering prayers for prosperity and good fortune,” he said.
The actor added that the intention behind the purchase matters more than its material value.
“I believe it is not just about buying gold but about welcoming positivity and abundance into our lives. Whatever one chooses to bring home, the sentiment and faith behind the purchase are what truly matter,” he said.
Akshay also wished people happiness, good health and prosperity, invoking the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi as the country prepares for Diwali.
