Actor Ayushmann Khurrana says his career choices have consistently reflected his belief in “walking the road less travelled”, as he continues to seek out content-driven films that challenge conventional Hindi cinema storytelling.
Since making his debut with Vicky Donor in 2012, Ayushmann has built a filmography spanning different genres and unconventional subjects, with titles such as Dum Laga Ke Haisha, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, Andhadhun, Article 15 and Dream Girl. His more recent projects include Udta Teer, while his upcoming films include Yeh Prem Mol Liya and Mupapa.
Speaking about his approach to choosing projects, the actor said he wanted to continue exploring stories that move beyond familiar formulas.
“I have always believed in walking the road less travelled. Whether it is from Vicky Donor, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, Dream Girl, Andhadhun to Udta Teer, Yeh Prem Mol Liya or Mupapa, my choices continue to reflect that and I want to keep exploring stories that are content-forward and break away from the expected,” he said in a statement.
Ayushmann credited audience trust for giving him the confidence to experiment, take risks and move between genres. He said he wanted his films to offer viewers something fresh while keeping entertainment central to the experience.
Reflecting on the response to Udta Teer, he said audiences were willing to embrace unusual premises and fresh storytelling when the material entertained and connected with them. He also expressed gratitude to the directors, writers and teams who had backed his choices.
Ayushmann will next appear in Yeh Prem Mol Liya, a romantic family drama directed by Sooraj Barjatya. The film also features Sharvari, Anupam Kher, Supriya Pathak, Seema Pahwa, Saumya Tandon, Shaad Randhawa and Swanand Kirkire in supporting roles.
