Yami Gautam Says Being Directed by Husband Aditya Dhar Was Her ‘Fee’ for Dhurandhar Cameo

Actor Yami Gautam has offered a witty response to reports that she received a hefty paycheck for her cameo in husband Aditya Dhar’s spy thriller ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’, saying that being directed by one of India’s finest filmmakers was payment enough for her.

The National Award-winning actor shared the light-hearted response during an upcoming episode of the quiz show ‘Kon Honar Crorepati’, where she will appear alongside actor Aadinath Kothare. Host Madhuri Dixit brought up Yami’s appearance in the film and asked whether she had been paid for the cameo or agreed to do it at her husband’s request.

“Maine dekhi Dhurandhar. Bahut pasand aayi. Did you get paid for that cameo? Ya husband ne kaha ki, ‘Please babe, kar do na?’” Madhuri asked, saying she had watched and enjoyed the film.

Laughing at the question, Yami replied that some things were priceless and recalled how Aditya had asked her to visit his set because he wanted good luck to be present during the shoot.

“I think kuch cheezon ka mol nahi hai! Aditya said, ‘Please come on my set, pe aajao. I want good luck to be on my set.’ And to be directed by one of the finest directors of India was my fee,” she said.

Yami also admitted that she was surprised when reports emerged that she had received a substantial cheque for her appearance.

“Even I was very surprised when I heard the news that I received a big fat cheque for my cameo. To get directed, I think, by one of the finest directors was my fee,” she added.

Yami made a special appearance as Shazia Bano in ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’. Her character is a nurse who is revealed to be an undercover Indian agent operating in Pakistan, appearing in a brief but significant sequence alongside Ranveer Singh’s character, Hamza.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, the spy thriller features Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan and Sara Arjun, among others. The film emerged as a major box-office success, drawing attention to Yami’s cameo and the couple’s professional collaboration.
