Television actor and Bigg Boss 14 contestant Jasmine Bhasin has opened up about the emotional journey behind her first tattoo, which reads, “I am enough”.
Sharing glimpses of herself getting the tattoo on social media on Saturday, Jasmine said she had spent years trying to change herself to fit societal expectations and feel accepted and loved.
Reflecting on that phase, she said she tried to fit herself into “little boxes” by changing, shrinking and adjusting herself to become the person she believed others would find easier to love.
Jasmine said that in the process, she lost her carefree spirit and self-worth.
She wrote that she stopped being the “carefree, joyous, positive and sorted girl” she knew herself to be and became focused on being “enough” for everyone else, while forgetting that she was already enough for herself.
The actor said a realisation during one of her healing sessions became both heartbreaking and transformative: “I don’t have to become smaller to fit into someone else’s world.”
That thought inspired her to have the words “I am enough” permanently inked on herself.
Explaining the meaning behind the tattoo, Jasmine said it was not about reminding herself that she was perfect, but about remembering that she did not need to earn love by changing who she was.
She said she deserved to be loved, accepted and seen as she was, without having to give up parts of herself simply to belong.
Jasmine concluded that the tattoo represents a promise to herself: “I will never abandon who I am again just to be loved.”
