Jharkhand Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi on Friday backed students protesting over alleged irregularities in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) examinations, saying their determination had remained intact despite police action, FIRs and torrential rain.
The protesting aspirants have been demanding a CBI investigation into allegations of irregularities and claims that jobs were being “sold” through JPSC-JSSC examinations. Marandi questioned Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over when the state’s youth would receive justice.
In a social media post, Marandi said the students had faced lathi-charge and FIRs but had continued their agitation despite heavy rainfall.
“They faced lathi-charge, endured FIRs, and even torrential rain could not shake their resolve!” Marandi said, adding that students had been continuously demanding a CBI investigation into allegations concerning the JPSC-JSSC examinations.
He directly questioned Soren and Gandhi, asking when the youth of Jharkhand would get justice and alleging that the voices of protesting students were being suppressed through police action and FIRs.
A social media account associated with the JPSC-JSSC protest also highlighted the students’ determination to continue their demonstration despite the weather.
The post said heavy rain had left protesters drenched and made their surroundings increasingly difficult, but their demand for justice and a better recruitment system remained unchanged.
It said some protesters carried umbrellas while others continued with only their determination, adding that they hoped for justice, reforms in the system and protection of the future of Jharkhand’s youth.
The post also appealed for the voices of the protesting students to be heard and respected, saying their concerns extended beyond their individual interests to the prospects of future generations.
The protests have brought renewed attention to aspirants seeking a CBI probe into the recruitment examinations. The protesters maintain that their agitation is focused on the credibility and transparency of the recruitment process and the future of young job seekers in Jharkhand.
