Actors Sagarika Ghatge and Vivan Bhathena are set to reunite on screen nearly two decades after starring together in the acclaimed sports drama Chak De! India.
The actors will share screen space again in an upcoming untitled drama. Vivan announced the reunion on Instagram, sharing a playful photograph with Sagarika from the sets of their new project.
In the picture, the two were seen in muddy clothes with dishevelled hair, posing with victory signs.
“#reunion after 20 years…new film coming next year,” Vivan wrote while sharing the photograph.
Sagarika also expressed her happiness at returning to the sets with her former co-star. “19 years later so great to be back on a set together,” she commented.
The project marks Sagarika’s first acting assignment since she and her husband, former Indian cricketer Zaheer Khan, welcomed their son Fatehsinh in April 2025.
The actors previously appeared together in Chak De! India, released in 2007. Sagarika played Preeti Sabharwal, a member of the Indian women’s hockey team, while Vivan portrayed her fiancé, cricketer Abimanyu Singh.
Directed by Shimit Amin and produced by Aditya Chopra under the Yash Raj Films banner, Chak De! India starred Shah Rukh Khan as Kabir Khan, a former captain of the Indian men’s national hockey team who returns to the sport years after being ostracised following a defeat to Pakistan.
Kabir takes charge of the Indian women’s hockey team with the aim of transforming the players into world champions. The film also featured Vidya Malavade, Shilpa Shukla, Chitrashi Rawat, Tanya Abrol, Arya Menon, Seema Azmi and Nisha Nair, among others.
The film won the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment at the 55th National Film Awards.
The new project will mark another on-screen collaboration between Sagarika and Vivan, bringing two familiar faces from the 2007 sports drama together for a new story.
