Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday welcomed cricketer Rishabh Pant’s desire to return to his native state and assured him that officials would discuss his request for assistance in acquiring land.
Dhami was responding to Pant’s late-night post on X in which the India wicketkeeper-batter sought help in finding suitable land to shift his base from Delhi to Uttarakhand.
“Anyone who wishes to come here is absolutely welcome. After all, Pant belongs to our state. He has made a big name for himself and for the state. He has also played for the country and brought it glory, so he is welcome. Our officials will discuss everything with him. If he requires anything at all, we will certainly provide it,” Dhami said.
Pant made the appeal at around 12:46 a.m., saying he had been trying for nearly three years to find a sufficiently large property in Uttarakhand that would meet his requirements.
The cricketer expressed his affection for the state and said he wanted to return to his roots and contribute to its development.
In his post, Pant said he had been attempting to purchase land to shift his base from Delhi but had faced difficulties in finding a suitable property. He requested Dhami to look into the matter and said he wanted to return to his “native place” and work for the people of Uttarakhand.
Dhami’s response suggests that the state government is prepared to engage with Pant regarding his request and examine the matter in accordance with the applicable rules.
Pant has maintained a strong connection with Uttarakhand despite spending much of his professional career in Delhi. Born in Roorkee, he comes from a Kumaoni family and has frequently spoken about his affection for the hill state.
The India star has previously expressed his desire to contribute to Uttarakhand’s development, with his latest appeal indicating his intention to establish his home there.
