Bollywood star Madhuri Dixit is set to host the Marathi edition of the popular quiz-based reality show Kaun Banega Crorepati, titled Kon Honaar Crorepati, marking her first association with the franchise as a host.
According to sources close to the development, Madhuri has been finalised as the host of the Marathi adaptation. The promo featuring her has already been shot and is expected to be unveiled during the premiere of Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 18 on August 10, hosted by Amitabh Bachchan.
The sources said the makers chose Madhuri because of her strong popularity among Marathi-speaking audiences. A Maharashtrian herself, the actor has maintained a close connection with the state and has frequently promoted Marathi culture through her work.
The channel had recently teased the identity of the new host through a promotional video shared on social media. The video showed the show’s team at an awards ceremony revealing the host’s name to celebrities while keeping it hidden from viewers.
Abhijeet Sawant, Bharat Jadhav and Renuka Shahane were among those shown reacting to a placard carrying the mystery host’s name. Their expressions suggested surprise and excitement, while they also performed gestures associated with Madhuri, including her famous “Dhak Dhak” move and the “Aaha!” expression from her iconic film Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!. The video then invited viewers to guess the host, with many predicting Madhuri’s name.
Madhuri previously made her debut in Marathi cinema with the 2018 film Bucket List. Kon Honaar Crorepati has earlier been hosted by Sachin Khedekar, Swapnil Joshi and filmmaker Nagraj Manjule.
