New Delhi, October 10, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Rajya Sabha MP Vikramjit Singh Sahney has appealed to Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh to reschedule his Delhi concert scheduled for November 1, citing the anniversary of the 1984 anti-Sikh violence and the grief that continues to affect victims’ families.

In a post on X, Sahney urged Dosanjh and his team to move the concert at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium to another date, saying the occasion held deep emotional significance for thousands of families.

“Diljit bhaji, you are Punjab’s pride and India’s voice to the world. But 1st November is the anniversary of the 1984 Sikh genocide in Delhi. For thousands of families, those days are still full of grief,” Sahney wrote.

He added: “Please ask your team to move the Delhi show at JLN Stadium scheduled for 1st Nov to another date. Honour the memory, then celebrate the music.”

The 1984 anti-Sikh violence erupted after the assassination of then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi by her Sikh bodyguards. Thousands of Sikhs were killed in attacks across several parts of India, including Delhi.

Dosanjh’s Aura Tour is scheduled to begin at JLN Stadium on November 1 before moving to Indore, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Lucknow and Chandigarh. The tour is designed to bring the scale and production of his international performances to stadium audiences across India.

Dosanjh has built a prominent career in Punjabi music and cinema, with popular songs including Do You Know, Patiala Peg and Lover. He has also established himself in Hindi films and gained an international audience through tours such as his 2024 Dil-Luminati Tour, which included a sold-out performance at Vancouver’s BC Place.

His recent film work includes Sardaar Ji 3, the third instalment in the Punjabi horror-comedy franchise, directed by Amar Hundal.

Sahney’s appeal centres on the significance of the concert date for families remembering the victims of the 1984 violence. No response from Dosanjh or his team was included in the source report.
