New Delhi, October 9, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)
The Railways have deployed 334 Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel and sought 14 companies of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) to strengthen security at major railway stations in Delhi ahead of the proposed CJP protest at Jantar Mantar on October 10, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Railways) B. Bharat Reddy said on Friday.
Speaking to IANS, Reddy said special security arrangements had been made to manage the movement of protesters expected to arrive in the national capital by train.
“CJP has called for a protest at Jantar Mantar on October 10. For protesters coming to Delhi by train to participate in the demonstration, we have deployed 334 GRP personnel and sought 14 companies of the CAPF,” he said.
Reddy added that security personnel would remain deployed round-the-clock at Delhi’s seven major railway stations, which handle the highest number of trains and witness substantial passenger footfall.
Addressing concerns about possible travel disruptions, the DCP said passengers whose trains had not been diverted and were scheduled to arrive at their designated stations could continue with their travel plans.
He advised passengers to check their train status online and plan their journeys accordingly, in line with the railway advisory.
38 Trains Cancelled Ahead of Protest
Indian Railways has cancelled 38 of the 165 trains scheduled to operate to New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin railway stations ahead of Saturday’s protest, citing anticipated severe road traffic congestion around the stations.
The cancellations affect trains scheduled to arrive at the two stations between 4 a.m. and 2 p.m. on October 10.
In a statement, the Ministry of Railways said the decision had been taken as a precautionary measure to minimise inconvenience to passengers.
The ministry said all Mail and Express trains departing from their originating stations after 2 p.m. on October 9 and scheduled to arrive at New Delhi or Hazrat Nizamuddin between 4 a.m. and 2 p.m. on October 10 had been cancelled at their source.
Delhi Police Warn Against Unauthorised Gatherings
Meanwhile, Delhi Police has warned people against unauthorised gatherings ahead of the proposed demonstration at Jantar Mantar.
Police said restrictions under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) were in force in the New Delhi area and warned that violations would invite legal action.
Authorities have stepped up security and issued travel advisories ahead of the protest, with arrangements focused on managing crowds, maintaining law and order and limiting inconvenience to railway passengers.
