The Haryana State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested a registry clerk posted at the Raipur Rani tehsil in Panchkula district for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 70,000 in connection with the registration of property plots.
The accused, identified as Amit Kumar, had allegedly demanded Rs 1 lakh from a local property dealer to facilitate the registration of plots involved in property transactions. Following negotiations, the amount was reportedly settled at Rs 70,000, according to the ACB.
The complainant alleged that the clerk instructed him to place the money inside the accused’s car parked within the tehsil complex. After opening the vehicle with a remote key, the accused allegedly allowed the complainant to place the agreed amount inside.
Acting on the complaint, an ACB team from Panchkula conducted a trap operation and recovered the Rs 70,000 from the vehicle after having the accused open it. The entire operation was videographed through the e-Sakshya system, the bureau said.
The operation was conducted in the presence of an independent witness and a gazetted officer, Dharmendra, Sub-Divisional Officer in the Public Health Department, Panchkula.
A case has been registered against Amit Kumar under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act at the State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau police station in Panchkula. The FIR was registered on October 9, 2026, under number 14.
The ACB said the prescribed procedure under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, was followed during the operation. Further searches and investigation are underway.
