Congress MLA Ganiga Ravi on Friday claimed that he possessed documentary and digital evidence to expose an alleged conspiracy behind the sting operation controversy in Karnataka, and said he would submit the material to the investigating officer within seven days before making it available to the media.
Speaking to reporters in Mandya, Ravi, considered a staunch supporter of Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, displayed a pen drive and claimed that the evidence included documents, CCTV footage, audio recordings and video material identifying those allegedly involved in the operation.
Ravi alleged that a Delhi-based agency had been engaged at the behest of a Union Minister and a Karnataka BJP leader to target state ministers through sting operations and embarrass the Congress government.
“This will not be a case of hit-and-run. I have evidence identifying the agency involved, the people behind the operation, the amount of money paid, the ministers they met and the personal assistants of various leaders who were present,” he claimed.
The MLA further alleged that arrangements had been made to accommodate the Delhi-based agency at a hotel in Bengaluru as part of the purported operation. According to him, the plan was to conduct sting operations against ministers to create political embarrassment for the state government.
Ravi maintained that the ministers had not engaged in any wrongdoing and had not fallen into the alleged trap. He said he would release the evidence at an appropriate time and provide the material to investigators within a week.
He also linked the controversy to reports that Shivakumar had cautioned Cabinet colleagues to remain vigilant against possible sting operations. Ravi claimed that the Chief Minister’s warning was based on the availability of evidence concerning the alleged conspiracy.
The Congress MLA also accused Opposition leaders of spreading misinformation because they were unable to accept the pace of development under Shivakumar’s leadership.
The allegations follow Shivakumar’s own statement on Thursday that an attempt had been made to trap him through a sting operation after he became Chief Minister. Speaking to reporters in Delhi, Shivakumar said several people had approached him after he assumed office and claimed that he possessed photographs and documents relating to the alleged operation.
“An attempt was made to trap me after I became the Chief Minister. A few people approached me. I have photographs. I know who the father of these sting operations is,” Shivakumar said.
Ravi had not publicly identified the individuals he accused or released the purported evidence at the time of his statement. His allegations remain unverified, and no independent confirmation of the alleged conspiracy was available at the time of reporting.
