The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) observed the annual death anniversaries of Bhai Harjinder Singh Jinda and Bhai Sukhdev Singh Sukha at Gurdwara Shaheed Baba Gurbakhsh Singh, located within the Sri Darbar Sahib complex in Amritsar, on Thursday.
The observance began with the conclusion of Sri Akhand Path Sahib. Bhai Jagdeep Singh Khalsa, a Hazoori Raagi of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib, and his jatha performed Gurbani kirtan. Bhai Prem Singh conducted the ardas, while Giani Rajdeep Singh, a granthi at Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib, recited the sacred Hukamnama.
Addressing the gathering, Giani Rajdeep Singh described Bhai Harjinder Singh Jinda and Bhai Sukhdev Singh Sukha as great martyrs who had sacrificed their lives for the Sikh community. He said the community had always paid homage to their sacrifices, made in the spirit of commitment to the Panth, and would continue to honour their memory.
During the programme, the SGPC honoured family members of the two martyrs, including Bhai Bhupinder Singh and Bibi Kulwant Kaur, by presenting them with siropas as a mark of respect and Guru’s blessing.
Those present included SGPC members Advocate Bhagwant Singh Sialka, Surjit Singh Bhittewad and Bhai Manjit Singh; Secretary Balwinder Singh Kahalanwan; Additional Secretary Bhagwant Singh Dhangera; Deputy Secretary Gurmeet Singh Muktsari; Sri Darbar Sahib Manager Major Singh; Superintendent Nishan Singh; and Malkit Singh Bahirwal, Narinder Singh, Beant Singh Khiala, Jarnail Singh and Paramjit Singh Mand, among others.
