Punjab Suspends Barnala DSP Satvir Singh over Alleged Lathi-Charge on Sanitation Workers

Chandigarh, July 24, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

The Punjab Government has suspended Barnala DSP Satvir Singh following the alleged lathi-charge on sanitation workers during a recent protest in Barnala after the Punjab State Safai Karamchari Commission intervened in the matter.

Punjab State Safai Karamchari Commission Chairman Chandan Grewal said the Commission had taken serious note of the incident and urged the State Government to initiate immediate disciplinary action against those responsible.

He also said the Station House Officer (SHO), Barnala, has been transferred in connection with the incident.

Reiterating the State Government’s commitment towards sanitation workers, Grewal said the government remains committed to protecting their welfare, rights and dignity.
