Patiala has emerged as Punjab’s top-performing district among government schools in the NEET 2026 examination, with 101 students qualifying the national-level medical entrance test.
According to the District Education Department, the district improved its performance from 71 successful candidates last year to 101 this year. Of the 881 government school students across Punjab who qualified NEET 2026, 101 are from Patiala.
District Education Officer (Secondary) Shalu Mehra congratulated the successful students, their parents and teachers, attributing the achievement to the students’ hard work, parental support and the guidance provided by teachers and academic support teams.
District Nodal Lecturer Daulat Ram said the successful candidates included 56 students from government schools other than Schools of Eminence, 23 from Schools of Eminence and 22 from Meritorious School, Patiala.
Nisha Kaur of the School of Eminence, Bhunerheri, emerged as the district topper by securing 539 marks in the examination.
Officials said the students prepared for NEET under the Punjab Government’s ‘Saathi’ programme, which provides online classes, mock tests, daily practice sessions and doubt-clearing support with academic assistance from IIT Kanpur.
