Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab Media In-charge Baltej Pannu on Friday claimed that 72.56 lakh women have registered under the Punjab Government’s Maavan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna, describing the response as a reflection of public confidence in the Bhagwant Mann-led government.
Addressing a press conference, Pannu said women whose registrations were completed later would receive three months’ instalments together, with the next round of payments scheduled to be credited on August 1.
According to him, Ludhiana recorded the highest number of registrations at 7,86,863, followed by Patiala with 5,50,035 and Amritsar with 5,39,285.
Pannu also highlighted the progress of the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna, claiming that over 50 lakh Sehat Cards have been issued across the state. He said the Punjab Government has spent ₹917 crore on providing cashless treatment under the scheme, which offers health cover of up to ₹10 lakh at government and empanelled private hospitals.
He said Ludhiana leads in the issuance of Sehat Cards with 5,36,504 cards, followed by Patiala (4,52,030) and Jalandhar (3,65,366).
The AAP leader accused opposition parties of spreading misinformation about both schemes and asserted that the welfare initiatives were being implemented as promised.
Referring to reports circulating on social media, Pannu also denied claims that the Punjab and Haryana High Court had stayed the Maavan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna. He maintained that there was no stay on the scheme and that its implementation would continue as planned.
Pannu further highlighted the state government’s claims on other welfare initiatives, including free electricity for eligible households, daytime power supply to farmers and expanded canal water coverage.
