The Director Students’ Welfare of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) Dr Nirmal Singh Jaura has penned a book entitled “Lockdown,” which is dedicated to the society at large.
While releasing the book, Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice-Chancellor, PAU, said, “COVID-19 has impacted the lives of millions of people not only in India but across the world.
The lockdown period raised serious concerns regarding health, halting the day-to-day activities of the people. The spread of COVID-19 could also be attributed to climate, which turned so negative and has been a serious challenge for health and agriculture sectors.”
Dr Rishi Pal Singh, Registrar, appreciated the writer for having good command over the language.
A prominent writer and former Police Commissioner Sardar Gurpreet Singh Toor described the book as public-centric for it has been authored in a lay man’s language.
“Although ‘Lockdown’ is an English word, yet it has been the most appropriate word, replacing ‘Taalabandi’ in Punjabi,” said Dr Jaura.
Welcoming the dignitaries, Dr Rupinder Kaur, Associate Director (Skill Development), said that different articles carried in the publication have been published in newspapers as well.
Tej Partap Singh Sandhu observed that nature has been man’s best friend; one can’t survive without it.
Dr Kamaljeet Suri, Joint Director, Students’ Welfare, proposed a vote of thanks. Present on the occasion were deans, directors and heads of departments.
