Veteran actor Sharat Saxena, who recently turned 76, has undergone a six-hour spine surgery and is now recovering at home, sharing an upbeat update with fans from his hospital stay and journey back home.
Saxena took to social media on Friday to share a series of pictures documenting his recovery. Alongside a photograph of himself smiling from his hospital bed, he wrote, “6 hour spine surgery- done CAN’T KEEP A GOOD MAN DOWN”.
Other pictures showed the actor travelling home with friends and later celebrating with what appeared to be a small gathering. One image carried the cheerful message, “PARTY TODAY GYM TOMORROW”. In another, he joked about his recovery with the words “NO MORE SOUP!!!”, while another read, “NO MORE WALKING STICK!!!”
The latest update came days after Saxena shared pictures of himself undergoing a standing MRI at Bombay Hospital ahead of his lumbar spine surgery. He was seen strapped into an upright MRI machine during the scan.
Saxena has long been recognised for his acting as well as his dedication to fitness. Born on August 17, 1950, he has maintained a rigorous workout routine well into his seventies. In past interviews, he has spoken about training for around two hours a day and maintaining his fitness despite his age.
With a career spanning more than five decades, Saxena has appeared in over 250 films across Hindi and other Indian languages. He is known for roles in films including Mr India, Tridev, Ghayal, Khiladi, Ghulam, Gupt: The Hidden Truth, Phir Hera Pheri, Baghban, Fanaa, Krrish and Bajrangi Bhaijaan.
Known particularly for playing villains and supporting characters, Saxena was also recently seen in Ajay Devgn-starrer Son of Sardaar 2.
