African American singer Mary Millben on Thursday extended birthday wishes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, praising his leadership and describing him as an important leader for the India-US relationship.
In an interaction with IANS, Millben credited Modi with advancing infrastructure and technology in India, expanding opportunities in rural areas and promoting the empowerment of women and girls.
“He certainly is the right leader for the US-India relationship,” Millben said while delivering her birthday message for the Prime Minister.
Calling the occasion an opportunity to celebrate Modi’s life, leadership and legacy, she wished him a happy birthday before breaking into a rendition of “Happy Birthday” for the Prime Minister.
“What a wonderful day to celebrate his life and his leadership and his legacy,” she said.
Millben said India was “so lucky to have Prime Minister Modi as their leader” and spoke positively about the changes she said she had observed in the country during his tenure.
She highlighted infrastructure development, technology and opportunities for rural communities, while also pointing to initiatives aimed at empowering women and girls.
On India-US relations, Millben said Modi’s experience of working with successive US Presidents had contributed to his understanding of the bilateral relationship. She described him as one of the prominent leaders in strengthening ties between the two countries.
“The Prime Minister certainly has been one of the best leaders for the US-India relationship,” she said.
Millben also referred to the BRICS Summit held in Delhi, highlighting the presence of leaders from different countries as a reflection of Modi’s international engagement and standing.
She described the gathering as a success for the Prime Minister and said the participation of leaders from across the world was “certainly credit to the Prime Minister”.
Millben has previously expressed support for stronger India-US ties and has been associated with cultural and diplomatic events involving the two countries.
