The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has suspended Sri Akal Takht Sahib’s Additional Head Granthi Bhai Malkit Singh and Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib driver S. Mohan Singh with immediate effect after their names surfaced in an unethical case.
The action was taken on the directions of SGPC president Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami following reports that brought the matter to light through the media.
In a statement issued from the SGPC office, chief secretary S. Kulwant Singh Mannan said the organisation acted against the two employees after receiving information through media reports.
He said that, as directed by Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, both employees had been suspended from service and the SGPC Flying Department had been instructed to conduct a detailed inquiry into the matter.
Mannan said the SGPC would not spare any employee of the Sikh institution whose name is found to be associated with unethical activities.
