In a move to improve efficiency within the Police Force, Ludhiana Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma on Friday transferred 69 police personnel ranging from inspectors to lower ranks, who were either stationed at the same place for over three years or found to be underperforming.
Sharma termed this reshuffle effective immediately, aligning with the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s commitment to maintaining high standards of policing and accountability.
He stated that these transfers aim to rejuvenate the workforce, enhance public engagement, and address operational complacency. He emphasized that the aim is to deliver proactive and people-friendly policing.
These transfers include personnel across ranks, from inspectors and other lower ranks, and cover various units, including police stations, traffic management, and specialized cells. He added that the decision has been taken after the performance was assessed by senior officials.
The Police Commissioner added that this will be done regularly for those who will not perform and fail to fulfill their duties and responsibilities perfectly. He also warned that any kind of negligence or laxity will not be tolerated at any cost. He also reaffirmed that the Ludhiana Police is dedicated to upholding the rule of law, eliminating crime, and fostering trust with the community.
