Punjab Vigilance Bureau Arrests 1,146 Accused in 1,107 Corruption Cases Since March 2022

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has registered 1,107 corruption cases and arrested 1,146 accused between March 16, 2022, and August 31, 2026, as part of the state government’s stated zero-tolerance policy towards corruption.

According to an official spokesperson of the Punjab Vigilance Bureau, 301 vigilance enquiries were also registered during the period. Competent courts convicted 248 accused in 154 corruption cases during the same period.

The spokesperson said 638 accused were arrested in 529 trap cases, in which vigilance officials caught alleged corruption-related offences in the course of investigations.

Another 492 accused were arrested in 546 criminal cases registered by the bureau, while 16 persons were arrested in 32 cases related to disproportionate assets.

The bureau also registered 301 vigilance enquiries during the period from March 16, 2022, to August 31, 2026. Of these, 118 enquiries were related to disproportionate assets cases, while 183 other vigilance enquiries were registered on various corruption-related matters.

The figures reflect the Vigilance Bureau’s enforcement activity over more than four years as the Punjab government continues to focus on action against alleged corruption and financial misconduct.
