A portion of an under-construction warehouse collapsed in Delhi’s Narela area on Sunday morning, leaving two labourers injured, officials said.
The incident took place around 11 a.m. at Plot No. 248 on Farm House Road near Jain Mandir in Budhpur, Narela.
According to officials, two labourers were trapped under the debris following the collapse. They were rescued and taken to a hospital before the Delhi Fire Service (DFS) team reached the site.
After receiving information, the DFS deployed two Water Tenders, a Bowser Fire Tender and a Water Bowser to the location. Station Officer Naveen Thakran and Sub Officer Pardeep were also part of the response team.
The injured labourers were identified as Sunil, 20, and Naresh Pajwan, 28.
In a separate incident earlier on Sunday, a portion of an under-construction building collapsed in north Delhi’s Alipur area. No casualties were reported.
The Alipur police station received information about the collapse around 11 a.m., following which police teams were rushed to the site. Four ambulances, a fire tender and a disaster management vehicle were also deployed.
A preliminary inquiry indicated that lintel work was underway when the temporary shuttering support, locally known as ‘balli’, apparently gave way, causing the structure to collapse.
Several labourers were present at the construction site at the time. Police said all workers were accounted for and found safe, and no one was trapped under the debris.
Police and emergency personnel conducted checks at the site to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the collapse and ensure that no worker was missing or trapped. Further verification and safety checks are underway.
