Faridabad, September 19, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

The State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (SV&ACB), Palwal unit, has arrested an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) posted at Tiggaon Police Station in Faridabad for allegedly accepting a Rs 20,000 bribe.

The accused, identified as ASI Hidayat Khan, who was serving as an investigating officer at Tiggaon Police Station, allegedly demanded money after threatening to register a rape case against a young man in connection with a dispute involving a woman.

The SV&ACB registered FIR No. 21 dated September 19, 2026, under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act and Section 351 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at its Faridabad police station.

According to the complaint submitted to the bureau, the accused allegedly demanded a bribe from the complainant in connection with a dispute involving his client Rohit and a woman. The complainant alleged that Khan initially demanded Rs 2 lakh in exchange for not taking action and not registering a rape case.

The complaint stated that the dispute arose on September 10, when members of the woman’s side reached Tiggaon searching for Rohit and a confrontation took place at the house of Rohit’s relative Pawan. A Dial-112 team reached the spot following the incident, after which the matter was taken to Tiggaon Police Station. Rohit subsequently approached the police station through his advocate for legal assistance.

The complainant alleged that after an initial payment of Rs 5,000, the matter was temporarily deferred. The accused allegedly later contacted the complainant and exerted pressure before the amount was subsequently negotiated at Rs 1 lakh, to be paid in two or three instalments within a week.

As part of the alleged arrangement, Khan called the complainant to the police station with Rs 20,000.

After verifying the complaint, the Palwal SV&ACB team laid a trap and allegedly caught Khan red-handed while accepting the Rs 20,000 bribe. The bureau recovered the alleged bribe amount from his possession and arrested him according to procedure.

Further legal action is underway, while the accused is being questioned and the investigation into the case continues.

The Haryana SV&ACB has appealed to members of the public to report demands for bribes by government officials or employees. Complaints can be made through the bureau’s helplines 1064 and 1800-180-2022.
