The Aam Aadmi Party received a boost in the Sri Anandpur Sahib Assembly constituency on Sunday as dozens of Congress leaders and workers, including a Congress sarpanch, joined the party from village Nanowal.
The new entrants were welcomed into the AAP by Cabinet Minister and Sri Anandpur Sahib MLA Harjot Singh Bains. They said they had been impressed by the development and welfare initiatives of the Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Punjab government and expressed confidence in the party’s policies.
The new members said the government’s focus on development and public welfare, along with efforts to maintain direct contact with residents and address their concerns, had influenced their decision to join the AAP.
They referred to the recently organised Lok Milni in village Jindwari, saying a large number of residents had used the platform to raise their concerns and demands directly before the government.
The new AAP members also highlighted development works being undertaken in villages across the constituency, particularly projects related to roads, bridges and other basic infrastructure.
They said work was progressing on arrangements for irrigation water in the Changer area as well as the construction of new bridges and culverts. They also pointed to progress on the four-laning of the Nangal-Kiratpur Sahib road, which they said would improve connectivity and transportation in the region.
Bains said the AAP government’s priority was to ensure that people benefited from government schemes and facilities without discrimination.
He said party volunteers and workers in the constituency were regularly reaching out to residents, listening to their concerns and working towards resolving their problems.
“Politics should be driven by communal harmony, mutual respect and development rather than a sense of revenge,” Bains said, adding that the pace of development in the constituency would be accelerated by taking people from every village and section of society along.
The newly inducted members said they would work actively to take AAP’s policies to every household and contribute to the party’s public welfare and development initiatives.
Bains welcomed the new members and said every new colleague would be given due respect within the party. He called for collective efforts towards the development and progress of the Sri Anandpur Sahib constituency..
