New Delhi, September 20, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

The death toll in the dumper truck collision involving a crane and an auto-rickshaw in south Delhi’s Sarita Vihar rose to four on Sunday, officials said.

Three others injured in the accident are undergoing treatment at a hospital.

The accident took place early Sunday when a dumper truck travelling from Uttar Pradesh’s Noida collided with a crane and an auto-rickshaw parked on the roadside.

CCTV installation work was underway in the area as part of the Safe City Project when the accident occurred.

The deceased were identified as Umesh, 23, Praveen, 35, and Suraj, 34. Suraj was the HR Manager of the company involved in the Safe City Project, officials said.

The three injured victims were identified as Akash, Anup and Khem Singh. One person, identified as Sudhir, escaped unharmed.

Speaking to IANS, Umesh’s cousin Ratan Singh alleged that administrative lapses contributed to the tragedy. He said Umesh and other workers were installing CCTV cameras for the Traffic Police when the speeding dumper truck hit them from behind.

Ratan Singh alleged that some workers were on the crane while others were standing on the road at the time of the collision. He also claimed that there were no safety barriers or work-zone barricades around the roadside work area.

The dumper truck driver fled the spot after the accident, and efforts are underway to trace him, officials said.

Further investigation into the incident is underway.
