Shweta Bachchan Nanda once opened up about her relationship with sister-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan during an appearance with her brother, actor Abhishek Bachchan, on the popular chat show Koffee With Karan.
During the episode, host Karan Johar asked Shweta to reveal what she loved, hated and tolerated about Aishwarya.
Shweta praised Aishwarya for being a self-made woman and a “fantastic mother”. However, when asked what she disliked about her sister-in-law, she pointed to Aishwarya’s habit of taking a long time to respond to phone calls and messages.
“I hate that she takes forever to return phone calls and messages. I tolerate her time management,” Shweta said.
The episode also featured a memorable rapid-fire exchange involving the Bachchan siblings. When Johar asked Shweta to choose between Abhishek and Aishwarya as the better actor, she immediately picked her brother.
Another light-hearted moment came when Johar asked Abhishek whether he was more scared of his wife or his mother, veteran actress Jaya Bachchan. Abhishek answered, “My mother,” prompting Shweta to interject with “Wife.”
Abhishek then jokingly reminded his sister that it was his rapid-fire round and asked her to remain quiet.
Abhishek and Aishwarya had reportedly first met during a photo shoot for their film Dhaai Akshar Prem Ke in 1999. They later worked together in films including Kuch Naa Kaho, Dhoom 2, Umrao Jaan, Guru, Sarkar Raj and Raavan.
The couple married on April 20, 2007, in a traditional ceremony attended by family and friends. They welcomed their daughter Aaradhya on November 16, 2011.
