At least three people were killed and three others injured after a dumper truck collided with a crane and an auto-rickshaw parked on the roadside in south Delhi’s Sarita Vihar early Sunday, officials said.
The accident occurred around 3.20 a.m. while CCTV installation work was underway near the parked vehicles as part of the Safe City Project.
According to preliminary information, the dumper truck was travelling from Noida in Uttar Pradesh when it crashed into the crane and auto-rickshaw parked along the roadside.
The deceased were identified as Umesh, 23, Praveen, 35, and Suraj, 34. Officials said Suraj was the HR Manager of the company involved in the Safe City Project.
The three injured victims, identified as Akash, Anup and Khem Singh, are undergoing treatment. Another person, Sudhir, escaped unharmed.
The dumper truck driver fled the spot after the accident, and efforts are underway to trace him. Further investigation is in progress.
In a separate road accident in Mumbai early Sunday, three people were killed and another critically injured after a high-end car crashed on the Mumbai Coastal Road.
According to the Coastal Road Control Room, the accident took place around 5.20 a.m. near Lotus Jetty, opposite Lala College. The car was travelling from Marine Drive towards Haji Ali when the driver allegedly lost control, reportedly due to overspeeding.
All four occupants were rushed to Nair Hospital, where emergency medical teams assessed them.
An update issued by the hospital’s Chief Medical Officer around 8.40 a.m. said three occupants were declared brought dead. The deceased included a 21-year-old and a 17-year-old, while the identity and other details of the third victim were yet to be ascertained.
