Tejal Hasabnis and Anushka Sharma starred with the bat as India Women A chased down 236 to defeat Australia Women A by four wickets in the first unofficial ODI of the three-match series at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in Mohali on Sunday.
The win gave India A a 1-0 lead in the series. The remaining two unofficial ODIs will be played on September 23 and 25, followed by a one-off Test between the sides from September 29.
Chasing 236, India A were in early trouble at 46/3 before Hasabnis and Anushka launched a decisive recovery. The pair added 126 runs for the fourth wicket to take India A to 172.
Anushka was dismissed for 55 off 61 balls, including seven boundaries, but Hasabnis continued to control the chase. She scored 81 off 82 deliveries, smashing six sixes and five fours.
Nikki Prasad then provided valuable support, adding 23 runs with Hasabnis before putting on another 40 with Sayali Satghare. Satghare contributed 25, while Prasad remained unbeaten on 32, hitting five boundaries, as India A reached 239/6 in 41.1 overs.
For Australia A, Tess Flintoff and Frankie Nicklin claimed two wickets apiece.
Earlier, Australia A were bowled out for 235 in 46.3 overs after being asked to bat first.
Rachel Trenaman and captain Tahlia Wilson put Australia in a strong position with an 81-run opening stand. Trenaman made 36, while Wilson scored 48 with eight boundaries. Both openers were dismissed by the time Australia reached 87.
Charlie Nott and Katie Mack then added 62 runs from 54 balls for the third wicket, taking the total to 149. Nott scored 39 and Mack made 23.
The partnership was broken soon after, triggering a collapse that left Australia at 174/6. Tess Flintoff and Sianna Ginger added 27 for the seventh wicket, while Millie Illingworth and Nicklin contributed 20 for the 10th wicket to help Australia reach 235.
Vaishnavi Sharma and Nikki Prasad took three wickets each for India A, while Amandeep Kaur claimed two.
Australia had earlier swept the three-match T20I series 3-0, winning the opening game by six wickets, the second by 30 runs and the third by seven runs.
