The pace of development in India has “definitely accelerated” over the past two decades, according to GoDaddy CEO Aman Bhutani, who said the country remains one of the internet and web-hosting company’s fastest-growing markets.
In an interview with IANS, Bhutani said GoDaddy has a substantial customer base in India and continues to see significant opportunities as the country’s digital economy and broader development expand.
“We love India as a market. We love growing there and we have a ton of customers in India and it’s one of our fastest growing markets,” Bhutani said.
Describing GoDaddy as the world’s largest domain registrar, Bhutani said the company’s business in India was performing well and that the country’s overall domain market continued to grow.
His assessment was also shaped by his own experience of returning to India after moving to the United States more than 25 years ago. Bhutani, who grew up in India, said he had witnessed considerable changes in the country during that period.
“The pace of change in India has definitely accelerated,” he said, describing how construction and other development had transformed places he had known earlier.
On some visits, Bhutani said, the extent of the changes had been so significant that familiar surroundings appeared almost like a different city or even a different country.
He said his pride in India’s progress remained as strong as it was when he moved to the US.
Bhutani was speaking on the sidelines of a gathering of Indian-American technology professionals in Seattle, where members of the community interacted with visiting representatives, including India’s ambassador.
He noted that Seattle has a sizeable Indian-American technology community, with many members keen to remain connected with India and contribute to its development.
“One is always surprised to see how many of us there are here,” he said.
Bhutani said the gathering allowed members of the community to understand India’s priorities and consider how their professional experience could contribute to the country’s development.
“It was great to listen to our ambassador. It was great to listen to the priorities that India has and what contribution we can play,” he said.
He said there was strong interest among Indian-American professionals not only in following developments in India but also in actively participating in the country’s continued growth.
“The number one thing for me is that people are very eager to participate, people are very eager to understand the story and be part of India continuing to develop,” Bhutani said.
He also credited the Indian Consulate in Seattle with strengthening links within the community by organising events, bringing professionals together and helping build a wider network.
“It has been fantastic to have a consulate general here in Seattle,” he said.
