The reported strikes took place in the early hours of Wednesday, when the Pakistan Air Force allegedly carried out bombardment in residential areas of Gidar. The attacks reportedly caused extensive damage to homes and other properties in addition to the civilian casualties.
Condemning the incident, the BNM alleged that children below the age of 10 were among those killed and said attacks on residential areas raised serious concerns over civilian safety and human rights in Balochistan.
The organisation said targeting civilian populations and killing innocent people constituted violations of international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions. It also accused local political leaders and parties of complicity in alleged abuses, including indiscriminate use of force, demolition of homes and forced displacement.
The BNM called on the European Union and international organisations to take immediate action over the alleged humanitarian crisis. It urged the EU to suspend Pakistan’s Generalised Scheme of Preferences Plus (GSP+) status and related trade preferences, arguing that such benefits are linked to compliance with fundamental human rights standards.
The group also appealed to international media organisations to maintain impartiality while reporting on the situation and not rely solely on narratives issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media and public relations wing of Pakistan’s armed forces.
Meanwhile, relatives of the deceased and local residents staged a sit-in at Surab’s main square, placing the bodies of the victims there in protest. The demonstration disrupted traffic along the N-25 Quetta-Karachi highway, with vehicles reportedly stranded on both sides. Protesters said they would continue the sit-in until their demands were addressed, The Balochistan Post reported.
The reported strikes also drew condemnation from other Baloch rights and civil society groups.
The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) described the incident as a “massacre” and alleged that it was part of a broader pattern of attacks on civilian areas in Balochistan.
The Baloch Women Forum (BWF) also condemned the reported attack, saying that civilians, including women, children and elderly people, should not be targeted under any claim of security or military necessity.
